' takes over Marquette's Ore Dock Brewing Company.

'Pookie Goes Grenading' follows a 14-year-old comic book hero in this surrealistic satire.

"This play deals with a lot of universal themes like love and loneliness and longing for companionship that are not really confined to adolescence," said Karl Numinen, who plays Larry Ragonesse.

Written by J.C. Lee, Pookie gathers a group of classmates and her high school guidance counselor to put on a play and make a statement about art.

"People are going to have to see this play more than once because there's so many layers and there's so many jokes and there's so much going on all the time,” said Director Jamie Weeder. “And that's something I’ve consistently heard from people that have seen it. They're like 'I'm going to have to come back because what just happened?'"

Only three chances to see 'Pookie Goes Grenading' remain. The show opened May 8.

Performances for Pookie continue May 19, 22 and 29 at 7:30 p.m. on stage at the Ore Dock Brewing Company.

"Everybody's going to identify with the characters that are going through the struggles in this play and they're going to see a part of themselves," said Numinen.

Tickets are $20 for the general public, $10 for students and $12 for seniors. Tickets are available online

"You will laugh. That is a guarantee. You will be affected. That is a guarantee,” said Weeder. “And, you will be a better person. That is a guarantee."
