Joining the GOP primary winner, either Ed McBroom or Mike Carey, on the November ballot is Scott Dianda who is running unopposed in the Democratic primary.

Dianda has been serving as the 110th District State Representative since 2012. He says he's running for the 38th District Senate seat to protect the way of life in Upper Michigan.

If elected, he hopes to reduce the cost of living, lower auto insurance rates and eliminate the pension tax. He says his record in Lansing over the past six years will set him apart from the GOP candidate.

"I have a track record of showing up and never missing a days work and I have the strongest voice in the legislature and I am there to be able to make sure that we change the things that people have wronged on. We have to make sure people's life is protected and so is their pocket books," said Rep. Scott Dianda (D), 38th State Senate District candidate.

The general election is Tuesday, November 6. To be eligible to vote in Michigan, you must be registered to vote at least 30 days before the election. Your request for an absentee ballot must be received by 2 p.m. on the Saturday before the election.
