Michigan beer represented during 15th annual UP Beer Festival

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - Despite the chill in the air, beer lovers were very “hoppy” during the 15th annual U.P. Beer Festival on Saturday.

Michigan breweries from above and below the bridge traveled to Marquette to represent during the festival. Organizers say there were just under 100 participating breweries and hundreds of different beers.

The Michigan Brewers Guild puts these festivals on to promote and protect the beer industry in Michigan, Scott Graham, Michigan Brewers Guild executive director, said there is something special about this one.

“There really is a special community engagement that’s always existed here since the first year, so we love coming to Marquette,” Graham said. “A lot of the brewers from downstate really look forward to coming to Marquette for this festival because it’s so nice and it’s nice to be around the city.”

Graham says plans are already in the works for next year’s beer fest.
