MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - The Marquette Trail 50 Ultramarathon weekend kicked off its festivities Friday with the Kids one-mile race.

The kids race is a free-entry trail race for children 12-and-under. The race took place at the Forestville Noquemanon Trailhead.

“It felt really good, it was really tiring but, I liked it,” said Selah Leipprandt, one of the runners in the race.

The adult races take place Saturday and feature a 50K and 50-mile race. The route is a single-track loop which climbs four peaks: Sugarloaf Mountain, Top of the World Lookout, Bareback Mountain and Hogback Mountain, all of which have Lake Superior Views.

The 50K will feature 375 runners. There will be 175 runners for the 50-mile.
