Sister March 2018

Women's marches were held across the country January 21, including in Houghton. Around 500 people were expected to to march in order to bring light to women's issues including sexism, and inequality in the work place. Two of the women also noted the importance of getting involved in government, both nationally and locally.
"Well the main point to today's march I think is to get people to understand how important it is to vote and to run for office," Sister March participant Valorie Troesch said.
"Nationally, the women's march is saying power to the polls we want people to vote," Sister March organizer Susan Burazk said.
Organizers of the Houghton March said never to underestimate the impact of involving yourselves at the local level in order to impact policies for everyone.
