‘We can’t be afraid’: Marquette residents learn how to have a voice on data centers
MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - Marquette County residents had a chance to hear discussions about data centers if one were to come to their homes.
‘Lessons Learned from the Data Center Fightback’ allowed community members at the Ore Dock Brewing Company to discuss how they can have their voice heard on the topic. Attendees could listen to different strategies that have been used to help the community express how they feel regarding the topic. Several speakers, including comedian Charlie Berens, were among those there.
Marquette Resident Mark Jamrozek has been following the topic of data centers for several months now. He says positive community engagement such as this can help on more than just data centers.
“We can’t be afraid. Why would we be subjugated that way? Why would we ever let anyone dictate what we can and cannot say? What we can and cannot be afraid of? If our voices weren’t powerful, people wouldn’t be trying to silence them,” Jamrozek said.
Jamrozek feels the topic of data centers is something everyone can learn more about and from each other.
