Upper Peninsula State Bank announces new downtown Houghton location
HOUGHTON Mich. (WLUC) - The Upper Peninsula State Bank is set to build an office in downtown Houghton.
It’s located at 908 and 912 College Avenue. The Keweenaw Chamber of Commerce previously used the building there as its headquarters.
The bank plans for the office on the property to offer its full range of services. UPSB Executive Administration Coordinator Kathryn Bianga said the bank is eager to offer its services downtown, such as its video teller services.
“It was always our plan to have a more permanent location in this area,” Bianga said. “So, we were excited to move into the downtown location, to bring our brand of banking to the downtown residents and businesses.”
Bianga notes that the bank already has established a presence in the community.
“Our bank has always had strong ties to the Copper Country and the Keweenaw,” Bianga continued. “We’ve financed quite a few projects in this area and we have a lot of customers in the Houghton area and surrounding.”
Bianga adds the bank hopes to start construction next summer and to open in 2026. She said the current office on Razorback Drive could stay active after the opening.
