"I want to fight to get our individual rights back in this state," said Musician and Gun Rights activist Ted Nugent.

Nugent endorsed Republican Gubernatorial Candidate Bill Schuette and running mate Lisa Posthumus Lyons. Nugent says Michigan's current gun laws need to be changed.

"Michigan hunting families are unnecessarily, and I believe criminally, harassed in Michigan," said Nugent.

"Hunting and the 2nd Amendment are what Michigan is made on and we're very excited to share those values here in the U.P.," said Republic Lieutenant Governor nominee, Lisa Posthumus Lyons.

Nugent, a lifelong and avid hunter, says Michigan laws like those mandating that hunters can not harvest some game animal meat, infringe on hunter's rights, and some Upper Peninsula legislators agree, saying sportsmen's rights need to be protected.

"I want to continue to work on people's right to own their property and to have the reasonable expectation that the state's not going to say that what you've been doing legally is wrong and illegal," said Ed McBroom, Republican State Senator Candidate for the 38th District.

"Hunting is about the Yoopers' way of life, it's the way we've lived for generations, the 2nd Amendment is what protects our way of life," said Representative Beau LaFave, (R) of the 108th District.

The Michigan Democrats released a statement voicing their concern on Nugent's endorsement of Republican Schuette.

"The fact that Schuette knows about all of Nugent's vile behavior and thinks that's worthy of praise and a day on the campaign trail is incredibly alarming and deserving of serious scrutiny," said Michigan Democratic Party Chair Brandon Dillon in a written statement.

Election day is Tuesday, November 6.
