Republic woman arrested on uttering, publishing charges

The Marquette Police Department arrested a Republic woman for uttering and publishing checks on Wednesday.

Melinda Rae Mongiat-Gransinger, 29, was arrested and charged on three counts of uttering and publishing.

The arrest warrant was issued by the Marquette County Prosecutor's Office in response to a fraud investigation involving Mongiat-Gransinger, where she allegedly cashed a deceased relatives checks.

Uttering and publishing is a felony and punishable by up to 14 years in prison.

Mongiat-Gransinger was lodged at the Marquette County Jail on the charges. He bond was set at 10 percent of $30,000.

Her preliminary exam is scheduled for February 21 at 9AM.
