Just a couple hours ago, the mother of Tysen Benz spoke out on national television about her 11-year-old son's suicide following what she claims was cyberbullying by a fellow student. TV6 recaps the emotional hour-long exclusive interview between Dr. Phil and Katrina Goss.

"Katrina?" Dr. Phil asked.

"Hi, how are you?” Katrina asked.

"Doctor Phil," he said, introducing himself.

The emotional interview started with wishes of condolence.

"I'm glad to meet you, but I can't even begin to tell you how sorry I am for the reason that we're meeting,” Dr. Phil said.

But, it didn't take long for Dr. Phil to start trying to get down to the bottom of this tragic incident.

"Tell me how this happened,” Dr. Phil said.

"My son met an older girl who was 13,” Goss said. “I'm assuming it was through school, through some mutual friends..."

Goss goes on to describe how her 11-year-old son started secretly dating the older girl, even though she didn't approve of the relationship. According to Goss, this girl would eventually text Tysen that she was going to kill herself, which would lead to his own suicide attempt. He believed her threats to be true when he received a fake confirmation text from her friend.

"Do you think, she had any concept in her mind that this would be the outcome?" Dr. Phil asked.

"You know, I actually do feel that it was intentional, just from things that I've gathered and information. But I do feel that that was her intention,” Goss said.

Goss said she bases these feelings off of how the girl reacted immediately after Tysen's suicide, as well as in the weeks that have followed.

Goss goes on to recount the events surrounding that terrible night, including how it was a seemingly normal day, and what her and her eldest son endured after finding Tysen.

In one of the most emotional moments of the show, she then described what it was like to take her 11-year-old son off life support.

"To see a little child, who is so innocent, and had the brightest future, to have to let him go, was... was horrific,” Goss said.

In the end, Goss made it clear the new purpose in her life to honor Tysen, is to be an antibullying activist, and Dr. Phil vowed to help, by inviting her to speak with him on Capitol Hill, in hopes of creating cyberbullying legislation.

But there are always two sides to a story, and Dr. Phil wrapped up the show by asserting that the young girl charged in this case, is innocent until proven guilty.

"We will continue to follow this case closely, and you must understand that what we have said, and what the mother has said are her point of view, and these are allegations,” Dr. Phil said. “While she has been charged, there has been no conviction here, and as I've said, we don't know all the facts."

TV6 and FOX UP will continue to follow this story.
