MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - NMU will host a film screening and panel to raise awareness about human trafficking.

The film ‘Ring of Silence’ will screen at the Northern Center Ballrooms on Monday. After the film there will also be a question panel with experts such as a police officer and U.P. Human Trafficking Task Force members.

NMU’s Trafficking Awareness and Prevention Vice-President, Kristine MacLean says human trafficking has become more prevalent in the college aged group and hopes the film spreads awareness on the topic.

“It has been in Marquette too so just sharing what the warning signs are just so that more people know about what it is and what they can do after to help prevent it too,” MacLean said.

The reception will begin at 5 p.m. while the screening and panel will begin at 5:30 p.m.
