EVERMAN, Texas (WFAA) - The human remains recovered during a recent excavation at a Texas home have been positively identified as those of a 6-year-old boy who disappeared four years ago.

The Tarrant County District Attorney confirmed Friday that the remains of 6-year-old Noel Rodriguez Alvarez have been found at an Everman home where his family used to live. Noel, who was born with developmental and physical disabilities, was reported missing in March 2023, months after he was last seen alive in October 2022.

“I would like to tell him. ‘Rest well little man. We’ll take it from here,’” said Everman Police Chief Al Brooks in a Friday statement.

Noel’s mother, 41-year-old Cindy Rodriguez-Singh, was indicted last September on a charge of capital murder, a month after being arrested and returned to Tarrant County. Investigators say she fled to India with her husband and six other children in March 2023.

About a month ago, Rodriguez-Singh was found incompetent to stand trial, but Tarrant County District Attorney Phil Sorrells plans to see the case through.

“Our focus remains on the successful prosecution of Cindy Rodriguez,” Sorrells said. “We owe it to Noel. We owe it to our community to seek justice in this case.”

Rodriguez-Singh is currently awaiting transfer to a state mental health facility in an effort to regain competency to stand trial.

“They believe that in the foreseeable future, she will regain competency, so she will stand trial for this,” Sorrells said.
