MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - A new powwow is coming to Marquette County.

The Zigwan Into Our Circle Traditional Powwow will kick off on Saturday, April 25th, at the Ojibwa Casino Convention Center.

There will also be a remembrance for missing indigenous women and children.

Marquette Area Powwow Committee President Sarah Garver says the powwow will celebrate Native American traditions.

“Keeping it simple,” Garver said. “People are coming into the circle and dancing because they want to. Because they want to honor the earth, they want to honor the creator and bring that positive energy into the circle.”

The event is free.
