UP Arts and Culture Alliance encouraging others to invest in arts
UPPER PENINSULA, Mich. (WLUC) - A U.P. nonprofit is encouraging communities and organizations to apply for a grant that is now available.
The Upper Peninsula Arts and Culture Alliance is encouraging communities to apply for the GIG Fund Grant. The grant invests up to $15,000 to help bring professional artists to communities. The Executive Director, Phillip Rice, says investing in the arts is worth the effort.
“We believe that communities that have great art and great culture are happier and better for it. So you know, if you’re a group that loves art and wants to bring art to your town, this is a great way to do it. And it cuts your budget way down because it’s free money,” Rice said.
The deadline to apply for the grant is Sept. 15. Rice said the organization is also hosting a grant writing webinar next Wednesday.
