After a slow holiday season, Roam Inn in Munising has seen a big increase in winter tourism since the start of the year. Owner Tom Dolaskie credits this to the strong winter weather in the area which many have used to snowmobile, ice climb, cross country ski, fat-tire bike, and sightsee.
Lake Superior Ice Caves Tours is offering a land-based sled ride until the end of winter. The rides last around two hours, where up to four guests are pulled behind a snowmobile in a sled with seats. The ride visits Miners Falls and Miners Castle Overlook.
“Over roughly the last 10 days or so, we’ve seen about 100 employees, per day, testing positive for COVID. We’ve never seen numbers like that before amongst our employees,” said Chris Gautz, Michigan Department of Correction (MDOC) Spokesperson.
