According to a press release received Tuesday evening, MCHD believes a 14 day quarantine period can impose personal burdens that may affect physical and mental health as well as cause economic hardship, making it difficult for many people to comply.
Attorney General Nessel’s office confirmed that the following U.P. locations are included: Gladstone, Gwinn, Houghton, Negaunee, Newberry, Ontonagon, and Sault Ste. Marie.
“We are grateful to the individuals who stepped up and helped provide officers with the information they needed to move this case through to completion,” said Bob Taylor, SCI Michigan Involvement Committee president.
When officers arrived, the found a fire had started in the paper machine on the second floor of the mill. The UP Paper fire team was also already trying to contain the fire.
Despite recommendations to avoid indoor dining, restaurants said they think people feel safe enough to come out and hope they find a way to support local businesses.
Marquette Area Public Schools is continuing with in-person learning. MAPS Superintendent Bill Saunders says there is no data to suggest any transmission of COVID is happening within school walls.
