United Steelworkers Local 4974 visited Lakeview Elementary School in Negaunee to collect the school’s Canathon contributions. Steelworkers snaked the halls encouraging students to help fill carts with cans. After vising the elementary school, they went to Negaunee Middle School to pick up cans before dropping everything off at St. Vincent De Paul.
The U.P. Children’s Museum hosted its 19th annual Celebrity Art Auction Thursday. The auction was in-person for the first time since the pandemic. Local celebrities put handmade art pieces up for bid including everything from furniture to food.
Marquette’s first-ever Feztival of Trees will take over the Masonic Center this weekend and will continue into next week. Participants will stroll through a winter wonderland full of raffles, gift bags, Christmas trees, and wreaths. Proceeds from the event will go to Ahmed Shrine to benefit Shrine hospitals.
The U.P. Superior Alliance for Independent Living (UPSAIL) held the “Homelessness in the 906″ forum to educate the public on the issue. Attendees got to meet groups across Marquette County working to combat homelessness.
Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital held a Festival of Trees After-Hours event this Wednesday. The goal of the private event was to recognize and thank over 100 sponsors and donors that make the Festival of Trees possible.
