Superintendent Bill Saunders said there have been substitute staffing shortages when teachers have had to quarantine, which contributed to this decision.
According to the Western Upper Peninsula Health Department, a continued increase in positive test results over the last two weeks in Gogebic and Ontonagon County is reason for concern.

This does comes after the Dickinson-Iron District Health Department recommended two more weeks of virtual learning. Those families and students do have the option to stick to virtual if they want.
Calumet Laurium Keweenaw Schools switched to online learning on Monday, Sept. 28 after the Upper Western Peninsula Health Department announced all Houghton County schools will move to online classes for 2 weeks.
In addition to the public notice, local health departments will continue to provide direct notification to individuals who are, or are suspected, of being a close contact of school-associated case.
