WLUC - TV6 & FOX UP is seeking a qualified Local Sales Manager.

The station is located in Negaunee Township just outside Marquette, the largest community in the Upper Peninsula (better known as the U.P.). Marquette has a base population of about 21,000 residents and is located on the southern shore of Lake Superior, the largest fresh water lake in the world. Marquette is also home to Northern Michigan University, which increases the base population to 29,000 when in session. The U.P. is a four season paradise and attracts outdoor enthusiasts from throughout the country. Job Summary:
WLUC-TV in Marquette, Michigan is looking for a highly qualified candidate to be the next Local Sales Manager. This person must be highly motivated to lead a team of 9 sales people in the highly dynamic world of broadcast media sales. Media sales experience is preferred. Management experience preferred. The candidate must be willing to coach and train their sales staff on a regular basis in the ever changing world of broadcast media sales. This person must be goal orientated and be able to motivate their sales team to achieving their individual sales goals and be able to manage and achieve the station revenue budget. WLUC is the #1 station in the Marquette DMA and has been for the last 50+ years.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Achieving WLUC local revenue goals on television and on digital properties
• Consistent evaluation of performance to include positive and constructive feedback
• Accurate maintenance of local sales records
• Review sales presentations, proposals, letters and communications with advertisers and advertising agencies
• Develop and maintain exemplary agency and advertiser relationships through ensuring WLUC local sales staff delivers all that is expected by clients in a timely manner. This includes establishing professional and personal contact with advertiser and agencies.
• Develop periodic sales training and continuing education opportunities for local sales staff leading to improved performance and productivity • Work to continually recruit potential sales staff members, seeking to find the next top achiever
• Possess general knowledge of sales and research available, most notably Nielsen
• Possess general knowledge of Wide Orbit or related traffic systems, knowledge of WO Media Sales and Matrix a plus
• Compliance with all company, station, and governmental regulations is required.

Qualifications:
• Minimum 5 years prior experience in a broadcast, digital sales or marketing role
• Minimum 3 years of experience managing a sales team, including experience in strategic planning and direct responsibility for growing revenue in the television sales industry
• Experience with WO Traffic, WO Media Sales, WO Central, Matrix or similar traffic, sales and CRM programs
• Must possess a driving “want-to win” attitude with a proven track record of sales/marketing achievements
• Solid background in building and cultivating strategic relationships • Superior project management skills are necessary, including excellent
• Communication and presentation skills
• Proven track record in driving, developing and mentoring high performance teams
