Wildcats Set Three School Records With 2 NCAA Provisionals at Al Owens Classic

ALLENDALE, Mich. (WLUC) – Northern Michigan University Track & Field competed in the Al Owens Classic hosted by Grand Valley State University and came away with three school records and two NCAA Provisional times.

Sophomore Izabelle Peterson (Marquette, Mich.) broke two school records on the day and posted NCAA Provisional marks in both races. In the 100 Meter Dash, Peterson finished in 11.76 to take second place. She followed it with a time of 24.13 in the 200 Meter Dash to win the race.

The team of junior Sydney McPeters (Sugarland, Texas), and seniors Lynsey Collins (Escanaba, Mich.), Paige Dutcher (Williamston, Mich.), and Shayla Huebner (Marquette, Mich.) set an NMU record in the 4x400 Meter Relay. The team timed in at 3:48.80 to also win the race.

The 4x100 Meter Relay team finished second at 46.96 and consisted of Peterson, McPeters, senior Jenna Long (Suamico, Wis.) and sophomore Lauren Alarie (Highland, Mich.).

Senior Michelle Juergen (Gau-Odernheim, Germany) took victory in the high jump with a mark of 5 feet, 5.75 inches. She then took third in both the long jump, 18 feet, 6 inches, and the triple jump, 38 feet, 0 inches.
Sophomore Dunja Drobac (Novi Sad, Serbia) jumped 36 feet, 3 inches for fourth in the triple jump.

Junior Katelyn Smith (Gaylord, Mich.) claimed first place in the 5,000 Meter Run, coming in at 18:20.76.

Dutcher came across at 57.86 for second place in the 400 Meter Dash and Huebner was second in the 800 Meter Run in a time of 2:12.01.

Junior Megan Martin (Hillsdale, Mich.) finished third at 1:04.23 in the 400 Meter Hurdles. In the 3,000 Meter Steeplechase, junior Hanna Torvi (St. Paul, Minn.), at 11:27.63, came in fourth.

Team results have not been made available as of this time and will be provided once available.

The team will next head to the Gina Relays at Hillsdale College on Friday, April 26 and Saturday, April 27.
