Wildcat Volleyball Drops Match at SVSU

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. (WLUC) – Northern Michigan University Volleyball took on Saginaw Valley State University in a meeting of Great lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference foes but fell to the Cardinals 3-0.

STAT LEADERS
Sophomore Alyssa Milski (Oregon, Wis.) led the offensive attack with six kills. Sophomore Hailey Wickstrom (Calumet, Mich.) added five with sophomore Lizzy Stark (Minneapolis, Minn.) chipping in with four.

Freshman Lauren Van Remortel (Carmel, Ind.) tallied 16 assists.

Sophomore Alli Yacko (Oak Lawn, Ill.) finished the night with 14 digs to lead the defense while senior Sarah Kuehn (Green Bay, Wis.) led the net defense with a block.

WINNING THE THIRD
SVSU captured the first set 25-15. The then took the second set 25-17 and took the match victory by winning the third set 25-14.

UP NEXT
The Wildcats will conclude the regular season Saturday afternoon by taking on Lake Superior State University in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.
NMU is currently in the seventh spot for the GLIAC Tournament. They trail both Wayne State University and Grand Valley State University, who are one game ahead and tied for the fifth seed. The two teams play each Saturday afternoon and since NMU holds the tiebreaker over both WSU and GVSU, an NMU win will move NMU up the standings.
