GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WLUC) - The Northern Michigan University Swim and Dive men's team finished out the Calvin College Invitational in second with 1508 points, bested only by Grand Valley State University.
The men's 200-yard medley relay took fourth, finishing at 1:31.32 with a team of freshman Erikas Kapocius (Ignalina, Lithuania), freshman Roberto Camera (Rozzano, Italy), senior Maksim Kapustin (Minneapolis, Minn.), and sophomore Henry Bauer (Howell, Mich.).
FOR THE LOVE OF DISTANCE
Junior Ondrej Zach (Rudolfov, Czech Republic) took second in the 500-yard freestyle at 4:32.47. Sophomore Jon Busse (Stillwater, Minn.) finished sixth with a time of 4:39.93.
200S ARE HIS THING
Kapocius took fourth in the 200-yard backstroke for NMU, touching the wall at 1:50.71. Kapocius also placed in the 200-yard individual medley, taking third in 1:52.38. Following him was Busse, who touched the wall fourth at 1:54.06.
Camera won the 200-yard breaststroke, finishing with a time of 1:58.71.
In the 100-yard freestyle, freshman Ivan Amillo Escobedo (Valencia, Spain) touched the wall first at a time of 44.49. Amillo Escobedo just out touched senior Lajos Budai (Kecskemet, Hungary) who finished 0.12 behind, in 44.61.
Freshman Ryan Leach (Colorado Springs, Colo.) placed eighth in the one-meter dive with 345.35 points.
Next, the Wildcats travel to Green Bay, Wisconsin for a dual meet with Division I team, University of Wisconsin Green Bay, on Saturday, January 11, 2020.
