UW-Stout Men's Hockey skates past Finlandia

HANCOCK, Mi. The Finlandia University men’s hockey team (3-8-1) never stopped hustling in a 4-1 loss to UW-Stout (8-4-1), Friday night at the Houghton County Arena.

Finlandia came out very aggressively as sophomore Connor Hannon just missed shortly after the start of the contest. Freshman Cory Richardson have a great shot stopped at the last minute about a minute later.

UW-Stout managed to get one in the net 1:59 into the game and would score again midway through the period. The Lions came out firing in the second period outshooting the Blue Devils. In addition, FinnU had another six shots on target that was blocked.

Stout tried to seal the game with a goal 31 seconds into the third period. Finlandia refused to quit and over the next six minutes, the Lions peppered the UW-Stout net.

At the 11:35 mark, sophomore Paul Lochner found sophomore Timo Kocar open; Kocar scored to make it 3-1. The Blue Devils would score two minutes later and held on as FinnU attacked over and over.

Finlandia outshot UW-Stout 30-26 for the game. Junior Blake Peavey had a face-off win percentage of .727. Sophomore Marcus Gloss finished with 22 saves.

Finlandia hits the road, Saturday, Dec. 15 when they take on UW-Stout in Eagle River, Wis.. The game is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m. CST
