OSHKOSH, Wi. The Finlandia University baseball team (2-12, 0-4 WIAC) lost 8-0 and 10-2 to UW-Oshkosh (11-6, 4-0 WIAC), Sunday afternoon at Tiedemann Field.
In game one, it was a pitching duel as only one run was scored and four hits allowed between the two teams after six innings. UW-Oshkosh scored six runs in the seventh to put the game away.
For Finlandia, junior Ashton Knutson (2-1) gave up 10 hits, seven runs, two earned and struck out five in 6.7 innings.
For Oshkosh, Chris Atwood (2-2) threw a no-hitter striking out 13 batters in nine innings.
In the nightcap, UW-Oshkosh scored five runs over the first two innings and never looked back. In the sixth inning, junior Patrick Coles doubles and stole third base. He would score off a sacrifice fly from junior Isaac Rodriguez to break up the shutout.
For Finlandia, Coles and sophomore Sawyer Murrell had two hits each. Senior Joey Krug (0-2) gave up four hits, five runs, walked two and struck out one in two innings.
For Oshkosh, Will Michalski (1-0) gave up eight hits, two runs, walked two and struck out five in nine innings.
Finlandia heads to Superior, Wis., Wednesday, Apr. 3 to take on UW-Superior. The doubleheader is scheduled to start at noon, CST.
