SANDS TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WLUC) - The Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter (UPAWS) is settled into their new space and they have a big adoption event coming up.

They're partnering with mBank for free adoptions this Valentine's Day. They're calling it the Home Sweet Home adoption event. UPAWS staff say they're excited to have these animals find forever homes and show off their new facility.

"We're very thankful for mBank to do this with us, this is the second one mBank will have done, they also did our Home for the Holidays back in December, the last event at our old shelter, and now we're using this one to kick things off at our new place," said Kori Tossava, Capital Campaign Manager for UPAWS. "We're really excited to use this as an opportunity for people to come in and see our new adoption center."

The Home Sweet Home adoption event runs from noon to 6:30 p.m. at the new UPAWS location on M-553. Staff remind folks these events tend to be very popular and advise the public's patience during the adoption process.
