Three Wildcats on All-GLIAC Volleyball Team

BAY CITY, Mi. Northern Michigan University Volleyball saw sophomore Lizzy Stark (Minneapolis, Minn.) and freshman Abigail Durecki (South Lyon, Mich.) were named to the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference All-GLIAC Second Team while sophomore Hailey Wickstrom (Calumet, Mich.) was named Honorable Mention.

Stark leads the Wildcats with 388 kills, averaging 3.59 per set. She finished second on the team with 20 aces and was third with 268 digs. The sophomore also chipped in at the net with 32 blocks. In the GLIAC rankings, she finished the regular season fourth in both kills and kills per set. 25 times this year she reached atleast 10 kills in a match with a career high 23 kills against Minnesota State University Moorhead. She achieved 10 or more digs 15 times and tallied a high of 18 at Grand Valley State University, a 3-2 win. She achieved a double-double 11 times.

Durecki leads the Wildcats with 31 aces. second on the Wildcat squad with 279 kills, 2.54 per set. Her .315 hitting percentage is leading the team and places her sixth in the GLIAC. Defensively, she has posted 83 blocks and 61 digs. During the season she reached double figures 15 times, notching a career high 18 in a 3-2 win over University of Illinois Springfield.

Wickstrom earned Honorable Mention honors after notching 248 kills this year, adding 59 blocks. She reached double figure kills 11 times and posted a career-high 17 kills in a 3-2 victory over the University of Minnesota Crookston.

The Wildcats defeated Ashland University 3-2 Wednesday night to reach the GLIAC Tournament Semifinals Saturday where they will take on Michigan Technological University at 5:30 at Ferris State University.
