MARQUETTE, Mi. The Northern Michigan University Men's Swim & Dive team captured a second victory this weekend by defeating the University of Findlay 190-91.
The NMU men managed to take both the 200-yard medley and freestyle relays. Winning the medley was sophomore Sam Konigsberg (Ann Arbor, Mich.), freshman Roberto Camera (Rozzano, Italy), senior Maksim Kapustin (Minneapolis, Minn.), and senior Lajos Budai (Kecskemet, Hungary) with a time of 1:35.35. In the freestyle relay was Budai, junior Amir Saman Khajegi (Mashhad, Iran), Camera, and freshman Ivan Amillo Escobedo (Valencia, Spain), touching the wall at 1:25.48.
TWO EVENTS, TWO WINS
Four Wildcat men won both of their individual events. Budai took both the 50-yard freestyle (21.54) and the 100-yard freestyle (47.78). Junior Ondrej Zach (Rudolfov, Czech Republic) touched first in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 9:45.62 as well as the 500-yard freestyle, finishing at 4:45.64. Along with his two relay wins, Camera took the 100-yard breastroke at 57.54 and the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:09.58. Finally, freshman Micah Currie (Blue Springs, Mo.) won both the 1-meter and 3-meter dives with 271.80 and 226.50 points respectively.
Konigsberg took the 200-yard backstroke, finishing with a time of 1:58.40. Junior Drew Del Papa (Warren, Mich.) won the 200-yard individual medley at 1:59.65. Amillo Escobedo had a Wildcat win in the 200-yard freestyle, touching the wall at 1:42.79. Senior Jonas Reinhold (Nienhagen, Germany) took the 200-yard butterfly with 1:56.78.
The Wildcats will now head to Fargo, North Dakota for a tri-meet against Minnesota State University Moorhead and Northern State University on Friday, October 18 beginning at 5 p.m.
