GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WLUC) – The Northern Michigan University Lacrosse team visited Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference foe Davenport University Sunday morning but were unable to capture the road victory, falling 16-3.
Junior Graison Ringlever (Mattawan, Mich.) and freshman Jessica Close (Brighton, Mich.) and Marina Wilson (Avon Lake, Ohio) scored goals for the Wildcats. Ringlever also added an assist to her day and led the team with three draw controls.
In goal, Cam Stilson (Brighton, Mich.) tallied nine saves on the night and paced the team with four ground balls. Freshman Jessica Close (Stafford, Va.) tallied three.
The Wildcats found the net for the first time 9:44 left in the game when Ringlever put in her 94th goal of her career and 33rd of the season. She then assisted Daniels' 21st goal this season just over a minute later.
With 5:43 left in the contest, Wilson hit the back of the net for the first time of her career. However, Davenport had scored 15 goals before NMU scored their first, then added a 16th with three minutes to go to take a 16-3 victory.
Northern Michigan returns to the Superior Dome Thursday night to take on the University of Indianapolis. The team will then honor their seniors Saturday afternoon prior to the final regular season game by hosting Ashland University at 11 a.m.
