ANCHORAGE, Ak. Michigan Tech seniors Kyle Monroe and Tommy Lucca were named to the Seawolf Thanksgiving Classic All-Tournament Team hosted by Alaska Anchorage this weekend. Monroe was also selected as the Most Outstanding Player of the tournament in which the Huskies recorded an 83-80 win over Anchorage Friday night followed by a 65-57 victory against Fairbanks on Saturday night.
Monroe, a forward from Green Bay, Wisconsin, helped Tech rally for wins both nights, pouring in 26 points in the victory over Anchorage followed by 15 points against Fairbanks. Monroe converted on 48.4 percent of his shots from the field (15-31) in the two games combined while producing 10 rebounds, seven assists, and three steals over the course of two games.
Lucca, a guard from Kingston, Illinois, averaged 11 points per game during the weekend, connecting on 50.0 percent of his shots from three-point range (5-10). Lucca fired in a weekend high 16 points against Alaska Anchorage in the tournament opener Friday night. Lucca combined for seven rebounds and dished out 17 total assists in the two games. Lucca had eight assists against Anchorage and nine more in the win over Fairbanks.
The Huskies will be back on the court Thursday night when they open the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference schedule against Saginaw Valley State. The tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. eastern time.
