INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WLUC) – The Michigan Tech volleyball teams remains in fourth in the Midwest region in the latest NCAA Division II Regional Rankings, released Wednesday afternoon.
The NCAA Division II Regional Rankings determine the potential seedings in all eight NCAA Regional Tournaments. A team's in-region record and in-region RPI are given top priority when ranking teams in their respective region. Of the 10 teams ranked from each region, only the top eight are selected for the NCAA Regional Tournaments.
Michigan Tech currently holds a record of 22-5 overall and a record of 19-4 against teams from the Midwest and Central Regions. The Huskies' RPI against regional opponents is .608, ranking them sixth in the Midwest.
Drury (22-4) retains the top spot in the region, while GLIAC regular season champion Ferris State (21-2) follows them at No. 2. Lewis (18-5) maintains the No. 3 seed, while Illinois-Springfield (24-6) ranks fifth. Rockhurst (21-6) climbs back into the top eight by ranking at No. 6, followed by Ashland (25-5) at No. 7, and Hillsdale (21-6) at No. 8. Indianapolis (14-8) and Findlay (22-5) round out the top 10.
The Huskies currently hold the second seed in the 2018 GLIAC Tournament, and will host seventh-seed Grand Valley State on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
