NEGAUNEE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WLUC) - The Michigan High School Football playoffs continued Saturday. Three Upper Peninsula teams took part in the action, with two of the games in the U.P.
Ishpeming traveled down to Mt. Pleasant to take on Beal City. It was a tough afternoon for the Hematites, who trailed 27-0 to start the 4th Quarter. Beal City got the win 27-14 and will advance to the State Semi-Finals. Ishpeming finishes the season 9-3.
The Calumet Copper Kings played host to the Maple City Glen Lake Lakers. In a tough defensive matchup, the Lakers had the upper hand, winning by a score of 15-14. The Copper Kings season comes to an end at 10-2.
Traverse City St. Francis made their way up to Iron Mountain to take on the Mountaineers. Iron Mountain dominated on defense, posting a shut out until TCSF’s final drive of the game. The Mountaineers get the 21-7 win and capture the regional title. Iron Mountain will take on Pewamo-Westphalia in the State Semi-Finals.
