MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - It was a big day for one Marquette high school senior, as Marius Grazulis will be playing basketball for Grand Valley State.
On Monday, Nov. 26, the 6’10" center signed his National Letter of Intent to play for the Lakers. He was joined by his parents and head coach at the ceremony at the MSHS Barb Crill Gymnasium, where he signed on the dotted line.
Grazulis joins his two brothers in going on to play college basketball after leaving the Redmen.
"It's really exciting. I went down there, played with the guys. Just grand valley state, I just feel like it's a great school, great environment, great teammates, great coaches, and I just think it was the right place for me, so I’m really excited," Grazulis says.
Grazulis was named to the Class ABC Second Team for the 2017-18 school year, after averaging 14.6 points, 8.7 rebounds, 2.2 blocks and 1.6 assists per game his junior season.
The now senior says he’s focused on getting stronger and getting as far in the postseason as possible with this year’s team before he heads off for four years at GVSU.
The Redmen begin the season, Friday, Nov. 30 against Brighton in Petoskey.
