Marian Women's Hockey skates past Lions

FOND DU LAC, Wi. The Finlandia University women’s hockey team (0-8, 0-7NCHA) fell 4-1 to Marian (Wis.) (1-7-2, 1-4 NCHA), Friday night at Blue Line Ice Center.

Finlandia was aggressive in the first five minutes as junior Kait Ryynanen missed and four other shots on target were blocked. At the 11:09 mark, Marian drew first blood.

With just over four minutes into the second period, sophomore Rebecca Lilly scored off a pass from freshman Brenna Ceglar. The Sabres would score four minutes later to take the lead at 2-1.

Ryynanen had another potential goal robbed with just under seven minutes to go in the second. Marian scored twice in the third period to pull away.

Sophomore Abby Kolek was strong on face-offs with a .500 winning percentage. Jun ior Annah Smiddy finished with 36 saves on the night.

Finlandia remains at Marian (Wis.), Saturday, Dec. 1. The game is scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m. CST
