BAY CITY, Mi. Junior Hannah Hobson of the Michigan Tech women's basketball team was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference North Division Player of the Week, announced Wednesday by the conference office. Hobson helped lead the Huskies to a key 66-57 non-conference
win at Minnesota Duluth on Wednesday afternoon.
Hobson, a guard/forward from Stoughton, Wisconsin, powered the Huskies attack with a career high 19 points and 10 rebounds on the way to her first collegiate double-double. Hobson was on target with 7 of her 12 shots from the field, with three of those makes happening from long distance. Hobson also dished out two assists and blocked one shot in the contest.
Hobson's previous career high of 17 points were tallied earlier this year at Southern Indiana on November 25th. Prior to Wednesday's 10 rebound performance, Hobson had hauled down a then season and career best seven rebounds against Bellarmine at the Southern Indiana Thanksgiving Classic November 24th. Hobson is averaging 8.8 points and 4.1 rebounds through 12 regular season games.
Hobson and the Huskies return to action following the Holiday Break when they head to Ohio on January 3rd to face Ashland University. The tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
