HOLLAND, Mi. The Finlandia University women’s basketball team (0-10) lost 92-37 to #2 Hope (7-0), Friday night at DeVos Fieldhouse. It was day one of the Hope Post-Exam Jam.
For the first five minutes of the contest, Finlandia hung in there against Hope. Freshman Harlee Froberg hit a tough jumper to cut the margin to under 10. The Flying Dutchmen scored 18 straight points to seal the game.
The Lions pulled down 31 defensive rebounds to 15 offensive for Hope. This is the seventh straight game that FinnU has had at least a 2-1 margin. The Lions also held Hope to just 19% from behind the 3-point line, their worst shooting night of the season.
For Finlandia, Froberg had 15 points and shot 6-of-8 from the free throw line. Freshman Katie Lundeen had eight points and eight rebounds off the bench.
For Hope, Lauren Newman had 12 points.
Finlandia will take on Baldwin-Wallace in the consolation game, Saturday, Dec. 15. The game is scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m.
