HANCOCK, Mich. (WLUC) – Sophomore Dave Carlson, freshman Christian Creten and freshman Shane Vargas had double-digits in tackles as the Finlandia University football team (0-7, 0-4 MIAA) lost 58-0 to Trine (4-3, 1-3 MIAA), Saturday afternoon at Fred Zollner Stadium.
Finlandia played great defense to stymie Trine for almost the entire first quarter. The Thunder managed just seven points in the opening stanza. Trine scored 24 points in the second quarter to seal the game.
Sophomore Kenny Kujawa moved his career total to 50 catches for 611 yards, both second best in school history.
Defensively, Finlandia (#1 in NCAA D3 Pass Defense) gave up 119 yards, the sixth time under 120 yards this season. Creten had 14 tackles, Vargas had 12 and Carlson had 11 tackles with 2.5 for a loss.
Finlandia returns home, Nov. 2 hosting Adrian. The game is scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m.
