Isaiah Johnson Named GLIAC Player of the Week for Third Time

BAY CITY, Mich. (WLUC) -- Senior Isaiah Johnson (Whitefish Bay, Wis.) was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference North Player of the Week for the second straight week and third time this season.

Johnson averaged 28 points per game for the Wildcats, scoring 25 points at Northwood University, followed by 31 at Saginaw Valley State University. He shot 55.9 percent from the field and was 50 percent from three-point range, making eight of the team's 11 threes for the week. The senior also led the team with 12 rebounds, three assists and four total steals as NMU split its first week of GLIAC play.

Johnson has been player of the week now three out of four weeks this season, and has now won the past two honors.

The Wildcats are coming off a 67-59 victory at SVSU for their first GLIAC win of the season. The team now returns to the Berry Events Center to take on Purdue University Northwest Thursday at 7:30 p.m., with the game hosted by Econo Foods. They will take on University of Wisconsin-Parkside Saturday at 3 p.m., hosted by Peoples State Bank.
