Iron Mountain, Dollar Bay advance to HS Boys Basketball Semifinals

PETOSKEY, ESCANABA, Mi. Iron Mountain outscored Meridian 20-10 in the third quarter of a Division Three Quarterfinal and held on for a 61-56 win at Petoskey.

Marcus Johnson and Foster Wonders each scored 25 points for the Mountaineers. Johnson stole the ball just before the Mustangs attempted a three-pointer that could have tied the game with less than ten seconds remaining in the contest.

Iron Mountain will face Detroit Edison Public School Academy in the first semifinal Thursday at the Breslin Center in East Lansing.
Edison defeated Flint Beecher 76-69 in another quarterfinal. Tipoff for that game is noon et, 11 am ct.

Dollar Bay survived a buzzer tying attempt from Pellston to win its second straight Division Four quarterfinal 67-64. Davin Hill led the Blue Bolts with 22 points. Ashton Janke added 18 points with Connor LeClaire chipping in with 14 and Brendan LeClaire ten.

Tanner Byard led the Hornets with 24 points. Blake Cassidy poured in 18 points. Cassidy just missed a triple try from half court that would have sent the game into overtime.

Dollar Bay will face Defending State Champion Southfield Christian in the first D-4 Semifinal Thursday at 5:30 pm. Southfield Christian breezed past Genesee Christian 74-44 in another quarterfinal.
