HOUGHTON, Mich. (WLUC) – The Michigan Tech women's basketball program recently returned from an international trip to the Dominican Republic where the team competed in three exhibition games against three Dominican Republic teams. The Huskies also hosted a free clinic for local children in Quisqueya Town and also took in some sightseeing.
Tech arrived in the Dominican Republic late Saturday night and played game one against Mauricio Baez Sunday afternoon. The Huskies grabbed an early lead and never looked back on the way to a 113-58 win.
On Monday night, the Huskies battled San Carlos and used a strong second half to improve to 2-0 on the trip. The contest was tied 26-26 at the break before Tech surged ahead in the second half for a 66-46 victory.
The Huskies did some sightseeing on Tuesday and returned to the court Wednesday evening against Calero. Tech led from the beginning, but Calero kept the game close all the way to the end. The Huskies were able to prevail 65-55 and conclude the competition with a 3-0 record.
Thursday was another sightseeing day followed by the clinic on Friday afternoon.
