HOUGHTON, Mich. (WLUC) - The Michigan Tech men's basketball program and Head Coach Kevin Luke are pleased to announce the addition of Matt Ojala (Calumet, Michigan) for the 2019-20 season. Ojala has signed his National Letter of Intent to continue his academic and athletic career as a Husky.
"I'm very excited that we have Matt in our program," Coach Luke said. "He is an outstanding local player and I'm looking forward to having him be a part of the Michigan Tech family. He is a good athlete that understands the game and has a high basketball IQ. He's a hard working player and I'm excited to see what his contributions can be to our program in the future."
Ojala, a guard from Calumet High School, was a U.P. Dream Team member and an Associated Press Second Team Division 3 All-State selection. Ojala averaged 19.3 points, 8.3 assists, 7.1 rebounds, and 2.1 steals per game for the Copper Kings. Ojala broke the school scoring record with 1,378 career points at Calumet.
Ojala joins Tyler Robarge (Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin), who signed his NLI in November, in the 2019-20 recruiting class.
