HOUGHTON, Mich. (WLUC) – The Michigan Tech soccer program and Head Coach Michelle Jacob are pleased to announce the addition of Mya Tomashek for the 2019 season. Tomashek (Hartford, Wisconsin) has signed a National Letter of Intent to continue her academic and athletic career at Tech.

"Mya comes to Tech equipped with a great toolset to contribute to our program," Michigan Tech Assistant Coach Chuck Coan said. "Physically she is fast with quick feet, has the toughness of a defender and the endurance of a winger. Technically she has an extensive passing range and a clean first touch. Tactically her vision, awareness, and game sense allow her to contribute from several areas on the field. She has the work ethic and mental toughness needed to compete in the GLIAC. She fits well with our programs' needs in 2019 and in the future. We are extremely happy to welcome Mya to the Husky family."

Tomashek, is an outside midfielder/defender who prepped at Hartford Union High School where she earned First Team North Shore All-Conference and All-County Player of the Year honors during the 2018 season. Off the field, Tomashek is a member of National Honors Society and plans to major in Biology with a Pre-Health Concentration at Michigan Tech. Tomashek joins three other players in this year's recruiting class with Neve Badalow (Davisburg, Mich.), Cassie Bonifas (Livonia, Mich.), and Gracie VanLangevelde (Spring Lake, Mich.) all signing NLI's for the 2019 season this past November.

The Huskies wrapped up the 2018 campaign with an overall record of 10-6-1 and finished fourth in the GLIAC standings thanks to a conference mark of 5-4. Tech has now qualified for the post season for seven straight years and recorded double digit win totals for the fifth time in the nine-year history of the program.
