HOUGHTON, Mich. (WLUC) – Sophomore Hailey Wickstrom (Calumet, Mich.) was named to the Keweenaw Classic All-Tournament team today after her success this past weekend.
Wickstrom finished the weekend with 49 kills, hitting .283 across the team's four matches. She also added seven total blocks.
In the team's first match, a 3-2 victory of University of Mary on Thursday night, she notched eight kills and had three digs from her front row position. She also added a block.
She followed it with an 11-kill performance with a hitting percentage of .250 against Upper Iowa University. Friday night against #9 Southwest Minnesota State University, she posted a .480 hitting percentage and finished with 13 kills. She also had a dig and a career-high three blocks.
The sophomore finished the weekend with 17 kills in an exciting 3-2 victory over the University of Minnesota Crookston. Wickstrom also tallied a dig and two more blocks.
The Wildcats finished the Keweenaw Classic 2-2 and will now head to Indianapolis, Indiana for the University of Indianapolis Invitational this coming weekend. NMU starts the Invite with Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference foe Davenport University on Friday at 12:30 p.m., followed by Minnesota State University Moorhead at 4:30 p.m. that afternoon. On Saturday, NMU takes on Saint Leo at 11:30 a.m. and Gannon University at 4 p.m.
