HANCOCK, Mich. (WLUC) – It was another valiant effort as the Finlandia University women’s hockey team (0-7, 0-4 NCHA) fell 6-1 to St. Norbert (2-3, 2-0 NCHA), Saturday afternoon at the HOCO.

In the first ten minutes, Finlandia bent but did not break on defense. Freshman Abby Edstrom had numerous saves before St. Norbert got one past at the 11:10 mark.

The Green Knights did not have long to savor the lead. 35 seconds later senior Kait Ryynanen blasted a shot in from the outside to make it 1-1. SNC scored twice in the final four minutes to lead 3-1 after one period.

The Lions came out aggressive in the second period. Sophomore India Charles blasted a shot that was just deflected away. Over the next 10 minutes, FinnU had four shots on target blocked and three shots that were saved at the last moment. St. Norbert scored with 4:30 left in the second to seal the game.
