OLIVET, Mich. (WLUC) – The Finlandia University women’s soccer team (9-5-1) lost 7-0 to Olivet (5-6-3), Sunday afternoon at Cutler Athletic Complex.

“Division 3 is as much about the life lessons as the soccer lessons,” said head coach Grace Sokolow. “We learned a few of both today. Our focus is now squarely on finishing the regular season strong and heading into the ACAA tournament with confidence.”

Olivet was on the attack from the start scoring at the 9:04 mark. With about 15 minutes to play in the first, senior Kirsten L’Esperance blasted a shot that was knocked away. The Comets led 2-0 at halftime and scored three goals in an eight minute period to seal the game.

Freshman Sam Linteo had nine saves.

Finlandia closes the regular season on the road, Sunday, Oct. 27 playing Mount Mary. The game is scheduled to start at 3:00 p.m. CST.
