Finlandia Men's Hockey roughed up by St. Scholastica

DULUTH, Mn. The Finlandia University men’s hockey team (4-16-2, 2-13-2 NCHA) lost 8-1 to St. Scholastica (6-16-1, 4-14-1 NCHA), Thursday afternoon at Mars Lakeview Arena.

For the first 16 minutes of the game, Finlandia and St. Scholastica battled back and forth. At the 10:18 mark, freshman Zach Erhardt fired a shot that was nabbed at the last moment. Junior Marcus Gloss made several strong saves to deny the Saints.

CSS managed to sneak one through with 4:02 left in the opening period. With under two minutes to go, Erhardt had another potential goal robbed. St. Scholastica scored just before the period ended.

The Lions had several good scoring opportunities that just missed in the first six minutes of the second period. The Saints would score three goals in a five minute span to seal the game.

Sophomore Teddy Randell picked up his third goal of the season. Assists went to freshman Jack Giddings and sophomore Cory Richardson. On face-offs, senior Blake Peavey had 22 wins.

Finlandia looks for revenge against St. Scholastica, Friday, Feb. 7 at the HOCO. A win would put the Lions one point behind the Saints for the final playoff spot. The game is scheduled to start at 7:15 p.
