HANCOCK, Mich. (WLUC) - It was full attack mode as the Finlandia University men’s hockey team (5-10-1, 3-5-1 NCHA) beat Lawrence (4-11-1, 2-6-1 NCHA) 4-0, Friday night at the Appleton Ice Center.

Freshman Cory Richardson took advantage of two great passes to get the puck in the net. That made it 1-0 Finlandia at the 4:03 mark. Sophomore Marcus Gloss made numerous great saves in the first, finishing with 17 for the period.

In the second period, sophomore Cale Markham found freshman Tyler Watungwa in front of the net. Watungwa converted to make it 2-0 with 8:11 left in the second.

Goals from sophomore Hunter Kero and freshman Teddy Randell in the third period sealed the game.

The Lions did a great job at killing Lawrence’s power play game. The Vikings were stymied with no goals in eight power play opportunities. Gloss finished the game with 34 saves.

Finlandia remains on the road, Saturday, Jan. 12 taking on Marian (Wis.). The game is scheduled to start at 4:00 p.m. CST
