Finlandia Men can't contain St. Scholastica

HANCOCK, Mi. The Finlandia University men’s basketball team (0-12) fell 89-66 to St. Scholastica (6-8), Wednesday night at the Paavo Nurmi Center.

For the first seven minutes of the game, the teams traded buckets. Sophomore Tyler Browner hit a jumper to make it 13-11, Finlandia with 13:48 to go.

Down five, sophomore Dylan Underwood hit a bucket and free throw. That made it 18-16, St. Scholastica at the 10:29 mark. The Saints scored 10 straight points and never looked back.

For Finlandia, Underwood had 17 points, Browner scored 14 and sophomore Jamal DeShields-Beard had 11 points. Senior Austin Carlson had eight points, 10 rebounds and blocked three shots.

For St. Scholastica, Brandon Newman had 17 points and seven assists.

Finlandia hits the road, Monday, Jan. 14 playing UW-Superior. The game is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m. CST
