Finlandia Men can't catch UW-Superior
Four players scored in double figures as the Finlandia University men’s basketball team (0-1) lost 76-63 to UW-Superior (1-0), Friday night at Mertz Mortorelli Gym.
“We competed well tonight but just ran out of gas over the last eight minutes of the game,” said head coach Mike O’Donnell. “We played well in spurts but need to be better on a more consistent level on both ends of the floor, too many breakdowns. It’s part of the learning curve and we look forward to getting back out there tomorrow and competing.”

At the 8:29 mark, sophomore Dylan Underwood hit a pair of charity tosses to give the Lions a 20-18 lead. The teams traded the lead back-and-forth with a jumper from freshman Joe Heinonen making it 32-31 with 1:07 left. The Yellowjackets scored six straight to lead by five at the break.

The closed the gap to three, 55-52 with 7:47 to go. FinnU was down five, 61-56 at 5:45 mark; however that was as close as they could get.
