Brown and Krug Earn WIAC Honors

HANCOCK, Mich. (WLUC) - Sophomore Lane Brown and senior Joey Krug have earned honors from the WIAC (Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference). Baseball members are Finlandia, UW-La Crosse, UW-Oshkosh, UW-Platteville, UW-Stevens Point, UW-Stout and UW-Whitewater.

Krug, who earned All-WIAC honorable mention, had eight double and five home runs, scored 11 runs, drove in 19 runs, had a slugging percentage of .482 while hitting .277 in 35 games. On the mound, he appeared in nine games and was second on the team in innings pitched (37.3) and strikeouts (29).

Krug left his mark on the record book. On the season he set records for at-bats (112) and home runs (5). Krug broke school records for at-bats (396), games played (121), hits (117), home runs (12) and total bases (180). He became the second player in school history to have 100 hits and 100 pitching strikeouts in a career.

Brown was named to the All-Sportsmanship team. That team is comprised of individuals that displayed exemplary sportsmanship throughout the season. It included one member from each school.
