HOUGHTON, Mich. (WLUC) – Sophomore Dawson Bilski of the Michigan Tech men's basketball team has been selected as the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference North Division Player of the Week, announced Monday by the conference office. Bilski helped guide the Huskies to an 81-39 non-conference win over the University of Wisconsin-Stout Saturday night in the SDC Gym.
Bilski, a guard from Powers, Michigan, powered the Huskies' attack with a career high 25 points. Bilski fired in 9 of 12 shots from the field and was on target with 6 of 8 chances from behind the three-point arc. Bilski also contributed six rebounds, one assist, and one steal. Bilski is second on the team in scoring through 10 games thanks to a 12.0 points per game average. He has converted 50.5 percent of his field goals and ranks 16th in the GLIAC in three-point shooting percentage (44.8%).
Bilski is also active on the glass from the guard position, averaging 3.9 rebounds per game going into Wednesday's showdown at home against Winona State in the SDC. Bilski also dishes out 1.2 assists per game and on the defensive end is averaging 1.1 steals per outing.
Michigan Tech is 6-4 overall and will host the Warriors of Winona State in a non-conference battle prior to the Holiday Break Wednesday evening. The tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. eastern time.
